I voice exclusively for Democratic, progressive, and left-leaning campaigns and causes. If you’re producing political content on the left, you’re working with someone who believes in what she’s saying, every single read.
My political voice over work has earned Pollie, Reed, and SOVAS Awards, and I bring the same conviction to every campaign spot, PAC ad, and advocacy piece that crosses my desk. I’ve spent multiple election cycles voicing campaign voice over for candidates, PACs, and progressive organizations, and that experience shapes how I approach every script.
Political voice over portfolio
My political work includes mayoral races, state senate campaigns, national PAC spots, digital advocacy content, and voter outreach. I’ve voiced TV spots, radio ads, and digital GOTV content for Democratic candidates and progressive organizations across multiple election cycles. Voice over for political campaigns & PACs
Political campaigns move fast. Your ad could go from script approval to broadcast in hours, and the voice behind it needs to keep pace.
I once got a text at 7:30 on a Monday morning asking if I could do a session at 9am for a political spot. I said yes. The session took 15 minutes, and the ad was on the air by the end of day. I have a deep understanding of how that kind of turnaround is standard in political cycles, and my broadcast-quality, Source Connect enabled studio means I’m ready when you are.
I’ve done campaign voice over for Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, Georgia State Senate races, and Black Lives Matter PAC. My Pollie Award was for a series of radio ads supporting Wisconsin Supreme Court Judge Susan Crawford’s run, my Reed Award came from the “Stop Sinclair” spot for Baltimore TV, and my SOVAS Awards for Outstanding Political Announcements came from “Finish Line” for BLM PAC and an emotional performance in “Answer The Call” depicting a young mother with a pregnancy complication who could no longer receive legal abortion care. The format could be a TV spot, a radio ad, a digital campaign across social platforms, or GOTV voter outreach content. I understand how political advertising works and what it demands from a voice actor. Tight deadlines, evolving scripts, and high-pressure production schedules are the norm in campaign voice over, and I’ve built my workflow around that reality.
Campaign consultants, PAC leaders, strategic media companies, producers and creative directors all come to me through different channels: agents, studio rosters, direct inquiries, and through Blue Wave Voice over, a collective of voice talent committed to supporting Democratic campaigns and causes. My involvement there is part of why my political positioning is absolute. There’s zero ambiguity about where I stand.
As an African American voice actor, I also bring cultural authenticity to campaigns and causes where representation matters. Political messaging aimed at Black voters, communities of color, and progressive coalitions lands differently when the voice behind it belongs to someone from that community. I’ve voiced spots where that authenticity was the entire reason for the casting choice.
Political voice over styles
Political ad voice over requires range. A hopeful campaign launch ad and a hard-hitting attack ad demand completely different performances, and I deliver both. Here’s how I approach the most common styles of political reads.
Positive, image, and candidate spots
Positive campaign messaging is where a candidate introduces themselves to voters, reinforces what they’ve accomplished, and summarizes what they want to achieve if elected. I bring warmth and sincerity that makes a candidate feel approachable and real. The read needs to carry optimism without sounding scripted, and the audience should feel like they’re hearing from someone who actually cares about the issues. These spots set the emotional tone for an entire campaign, and the voice has to earn trust within 30 seconds.
Attack and negative ads
For attack ads, I walk the tightrope: I go negative with precision, conveying the weight of the opposition’s record without sounding too mean or over-the-top. That balance takes practice and a genuine willingness to do the work most voice actors shy away from. The delivery has to feel credible and measured. If the voice sounds angry or theatrical, the audience tunes out. I let the facts carry the weight and use tone to guide the listener’s response.
Ballot and issue advocacy
Issue-based campaigns and ballot measure spots often call for a credible, empathetic tone, especially when the subject matter is complex policy, civil rights, or healthcare. These reads tend to be more nuanced than candidate spots because the audience is processing information and forming an opinion in real time. My SOVAS Award for “Answer The Call,” a spot about reproductive healthcare access, is an example of how I handle sensitive issue advocacy with care and conviction.
Get Out The Vote (GOTV)
GOTV spots are where energy and urgency come together. Especially in the final days of a cycle, these ads need to spark action. The read has to feel immediate yet conversational: deadlines are real, the stakes are high, and the audience needs to feel that in the voice. I’ve voiced GOTV content for multiple election cycles and understand the pacing and intensity these spots require. Last-minute GOTV pushes and election-day reminders are some of the fastest-turnaround work in political voice over, and I’m built for that speed.
Real person on the street
Some political ads work best when they sound unscripted. Real person on the street reads need a casual, off-the-cuff quality that sounds like someone sharing their honest opinion at a coffee shop, on their front porch or … well, on the street. I adjust my pacing, soften the polish, and deliver a read that feels spontaneous. This style is especially effective for grassroots campaigns and voter testimonial-style spots where authenticity is the whole point.
Snarky, funny, and comedic spots
On occasion, political campaigns call for a bit of levity. Comedic spots are some of my favorite projects to work on. Whether your spot calls for a wry, dry, sarcastic approach or a self-aware performance with personality, I’ll leave your listeners laughing all the way to the voting booth with a message that lands. Humor in political advertising is hard to get right because the comedy has to serve the message. Go too far and you lose credibility. I know where that line is.
I research every candidate and script before accepting a political voice over project. Authentic delivery comes from understanding and believing in the message, and that due diligence is part of my process.
Robocalls and automated voter contact
Political robocalls still rely on prerecorded human voices for a reason. Voters associate a real voice with credibility, and in a format where you have seconds to hold someone’s attention, that trust matters. I record robocall scripts with the same care I give a broadcast spot, because a voter picking up the phone is giving you exactly one chance to make your message land.
Frequently asked questions
How fast can you turn around political voice over?
Same-day turnaround is something I do regularly during election cycles. My home studio is broadcast-ready and Source Connect enabled, so I can be in session within hours of a request. I’ve gone from a 7:30am text, to a 9:00am session, to a finished, on-air spot by end of day. Files are delivered in WAV or MP3 formats, whatever your production team needs.
Do you handle confidential campaign content?
Yes. I understand that political ad voice over often involves unreleased messaging, opposition research, and sensitive content. Campaign strategy depends on timing, and I treat every script and campaign detail with full discretion. Your messaging stays between us until it airs.
How do you work with campaign teams?
I work with consultants, campaign managers, PAC teams, strategic media companies, and creative directors and producers. Most political sessions are live-directed via Source Connect or Zoom, which lets your team hear takes in real time and provide direction on the spot. Asynchronous delivery is also available when the timeline or workflow calls for it. I’m accustomed to the pace and pressure of political production schedules and adjust my availability accordingly during peak election season.
Can you handle last-minute script revisions?
Absolutely. Campaign voice over scripts change constantly as polling data moves, news cycles churn and messaging strategies adjust overnight. I’m accustomed to revised scripts arriving mid-session and can pivot quickly without losing performance quality. If the script changes after delivery, re-records are a normal part of the political voice over process, and I handle them efficiently.
Do you voice ballot measure and referendum campaigns?
Yes. Ballot measure campaigns have their own demands because you’re selling an idea and a position on policy, and voters are processing that information while deciding how they feel. The tone for these reads typically requires empathy and authority in equal measure. If you’re producing issue advocacy content for a PAC or nonprofit, I approach it with the same due diligence I give candidate spots: I review the material, make sure I believe in the message, and deliver a read grounded in that conviction.
What if I need multiple spots for a single campaign?
Campaign ad buys often involve a suite of spots: a positive introduction, an attack ad, a GOTV push, and sometimes a response ad to counter opposition messaging. I can voice an entire campaign’s worth of political voice over content and keep the performance consistent across spots while adjusting tone and energy for each format. Bundled projects also move faster because I already know the candidate, the messaging, and the stakes.
