I’m Erikka J, a StoryBrand Certified Guide, communication expert and Emmy award winning professional voice actor with a decade of experience performing other people’s copy. Years of voice over work put me on the receiving end of thousands of scripts.

Commercial scripts, corporate narrations, explainer videos, political ads. I’ve read copy for Amazon, Disney, the NFL, Mailchimp, and dozens of other brands. And I’ve seen, over and over again, how unclear messaging can water down an otherwise strong campaign.

In sessions I’d often be handed a script that looked good on paper, but the moment I spoke it out loud, it didn’t click. Maybe the rhythm was wrong, or the phrasing was clunky, or the core message got buried under too many ideas fighting for attention. So I started offering feedback. I’d suggest alternative phrasing, identify spots where the writing and the speaking version of a sentence didn’t line up, and help clients tighten their message while we were still in the booth.

That became a regular part of how I work as a voice actor. I’m a creative partner who gives feedback when you’re open to it. And over time, I realized the skill I’d been using in sessions could help people long before they ever got to the recording stage.

I originally found StoryBrand because I wanted to improve my own voice over business. After someone introduced me to Donald Miller’s StoryBrand framework, I attended a virtual workshop and eventually did the in-person certification. All that grew out of my own business needs. But I quickly realized I could use the same framework to help other businesses get their messaging right.

As a StoryBrand Certified Guide, I help you clarify what you do, who you help, and why it matters, all through a framework built on how people actually process information. Your audience needs to hear themselves in your message within seconds of landing on your site, opening your email, or watching your ad. If they don’t, they’ll move on.
