I often post on social media (@misserikkaj) with the hashtag #Jewels. My Instagram post bout my late mother, Jillian (which is also my middle name), describes her influence on who I am. My mother made education a focal point in my upbringing and was the epitome of a lady - a true jewel. In addition to "Jewels" being what I call those that show love by following my movement, the "Erikka J’s Jewels" concept is all about making music that feeds souls, and using the light that He has given to each of us to share knowledge...to shine...to be brilliant.

Proverbs 20:15 says “There is gold and a multitude of rubies, but the lips of knowledge are a precious jewel.” I found this passage while working on some music marketing planning and don't believe it was a coincidence that the chapter and verse matched the year, 2015. In this age of twerk and turn up, our media are flooded with sex saturated lyrics/imagery and shallow messages. More value is placed on visual appearance than content. It's cool to be beautiful, but intelligence should be just as if not more important. I’m no saint by any means, but my vision as an artist and entrepreneur is to restore balance in the industry by making music that means something to people...that tells stories about real experiences...that either multiplies joy or divides pain...music that allows someone to say “Hey, I went through that too”.

Jewels are precious, treasured, celebrated, and respected. Sowing into my dream by following my journey and supporting my music, products and services makes you a Jewel in my eyes.
